Presnel Kimpembe will not receive any card for this tackle supported during PSG-Brest in Ligue 1, September 10, 2022.
SOCCER – “Why are you touching me? » The spat between the Parisian defender Presnel Kimpembecaptain of the PSG Saturday against Brest (1-0), and referee Jérémie Pignard was captured by the cameras of the Amazon Prime Video broadcaster, who had equipped the man in black with a microphone.
As part of this experiment, the exchanges between Jérémie Pignard, the players and the coaches of this match of the 7th day of Ligue 1 were recorded and broadcast this Sunday, September 11 in Sunday Night FootballAmazon’s weekly show.
One of the striking sequences was captured at the very end of the match (watch the video below): while a crowd of players is forming around Kimpembe, guilty of a tackle leaning on the Brestois Irvin Cardona which could have earned him a second yellow card and an exclusion, Jérémie Pignard intervenes to disperse this gathering, pushing Kimpembe slightly and another player at chest level.
” Lets’ go “launches the referee by separating the players.
“Wesh, don’t touch me brother!” Why are you touching me? Don’t touch me! »annoys Kimpembe, making a sudden movement to push back the arm of Jérémie Pignard, who is not offended.
“Why get excited? » plays down the man with the whistle.
“Kim, come here! »orders the trainer Christophe Galtier to calm the game, bringing out his player, who was also injured on the action and will miss at least the next two matches of PSG.

Kimpembe kept coming to ask the referee for explanations
This altercation comes at the end of a match where the defender, wearing the captain’s armband for the occasion, kept coming to ask the referee for an explanation.
“Don’t come every time, you’ll take a yellow”launches Jérémie Pignard. “Do you want to take my place? No, you don’t have the right. Don’t come every time, let me do my job. (…) I understand that you come super calmly, it’s great, okay? But don’t make the move! I know my job. I will not play for you! »
Finally, other sequences show Jérémie Pignard in full exercise of pedagogy with the players, recalling the rules or explaining the use of video arbitration.
Equipping Ligue 1 referees with microphones is one of the wishes of the Professional Football League (LFP), in order to improve education but also the television experience of spectators.
This “sound system” referees has already been tested in France, for example in 2003 during the final of the Coupe de France between Auxerre and PSG.
But the generalization of this device is subject to the agreement of the International Board (Ifab), the very fastidious body guardian of the laws of the game, which must ratify any arbitration development.
