A raised sedan can hide another. By unveiling its new C4 X on June 29, 2022, Citroën is also presenting the electric variant of this model. Called Citroën ë-C4 X, the car obviously adopts the same fastback silhouette as its thermal sister. High on wheels, it looks like a coupé SUV from certain angles. Unlike its cousin, the Peugeot 408, it is 100% electric, and not rechargeable hybrid.

Externally, the presence of an electric motor under the hood of the Citroën ë-C4 X is betrayed by a few elements. First of all, there are these blue inserts located on the underbody protections and around the fog lamps integrated into the front bumper. The letter “ë” is also present on the fenders, or on the tailgate, affixed alongside the name of the model.

Based on the Stellantis group’s modular e-CMP platform, the Citroën ë-C4 X has a 100 kW electric motor, or around 136 horsepower for 260 Nm of torque. This is similar to what is offered on the Citroën ë-C4. It allows the raised sedan to achieve 0 to 100 km/h in 9.5 seconds, while the top speed is limited to 150 km/h.

On the side of its bases, the Citroën ë-C4 X is equipped with a 50 kWh battery which gives it a range of 360 kilometers according to the WLTP certification cycle. The car is equipped with a regenerative braking system which allows it to recover a little autonomy when the brake pedal is pressed, or during phases of deceleration. By plugging in the ë-C4 X, 80% of the recharge can be carried out in half an hour on a direct current (DC) terminal of 100 kW. This same recharge takes 7.5 hours in single phase on a Wall Box, or five hours in three phase with the optional 11 kW charger.

The passenger compartment of the Citroën ë-C4 X differs very little from the thermal model. We find the same layout with Advanced Comfort seats, improved comfort thanks to the suspension with progressive hydraulic stops, a digital instrument cluster and a 10-inch touch screen associated with the MyCitroën Drive Plus infotainment system. On the on-board computer, a display can be dedicated to the state of the battery, the autonomy, the power of the electric motor, the energy flow or even the impact of heating on consumption.

Available at the end of 2022 in France

In terms of equipment, the ë-C4 X benefits from the same driving aids as the C4 X, such as Active Safety Brake, collision risk alert, level 2 semi-autonomous driving, monitoring of blind spot, driver attention alert, color head-up display, 360-degree vision, but also Park Assist. Only the hitch stability control is not available on the electric C4 X.

The Citroën ë-C4 X is available towards the end of 2022. Its price remains unknown at the time of writing these lines. If the raised sedan is offered in petrol and diesel on the French market, some countries – such as Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and Portugal – are only entitled to this electric version. .

In short

While the Citroën C4 X gasoline and diesel is pointing the end of its hood, an electric variant of this raised sedan is also appearing. Called Citroën ë-C4 X, this model obviously sports the same design as the C4 X, but differs in a few badges and specific blue inserts. Based on the e-CMP modular platform, the new ë-C4 X benefits from the same electric motor of 136 hp for 260 Nm already present on the ë-C4. This is associated with a 50 kWh battery, for a range of 360 kilometers according to the WLTP certification cycle. According to the chevron brand, 80% of this autonomy can be recovered in half an hour on a 100 kW direct current (DC) public terminal. The electric Citroën ë-C4 X will be marketed from the end of 2022 in France.
