After the filing without follow-up of her complaint for incest against her father, Coline Berry came out of silence. On Instagram, the daughter of Richard Berry published the reaction of his lawyer.
The court has decided. This Wednesday, August 31, the Paris prosecutor’s office dismissed the complaints that Coline Berry had filed against her father, Richard Berry and her former mother-in-law, Jeane Manson. In the columns of World in January 2021, she revealed that she had filed a complaint against the actor for “acts of rape or incestuous sexual assault, and corruption of a minor”. Over the course of the investigation, the justice system reclassified the facts as “sexual assault on a 15-year-old minor” for Richard Berry and in “corruption of a 15-year-old minor” for Jeane Manson. Months later, the Paris prosecutor’s office dismissed Coline Berry’s complaint for prescriptionthe facts of which she accused them dating back to the 1980s. On Instagram, she quietly broke the silence.
Coline Berry first posted a screenshot of an article from the World, on the Duhamel affair, who admitted to having sexually assaulted Victor Kouchner, his son-in-law. In it, the prosecutor explained the classification without follow-up: “This reason for classification is retained when the facts revealed or denounced in the procedure constitute an offense which would have given rise to prosecution by the public prosecutor’s office if the time limit set by law had not been exceeded”. Coline Berry then published the official reaction of her lawyer, Maître Patrick Klugman. “Coline Berry denounced the appalling facts she suffered in her family environment for much of her youth, knowing full well that they were prescribed, reacted his advice. I welcome the decision of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, which after a long and meticulous investigation, takes note of the prescription and thus considers them sufficiently characterized and therefore probable.
“This system has made Coline Berry, victim, a person condemned for having denounced what she experienced”
“No one will be able to say that Coline Berry is a liar anymore, but simply that the facts can no longer be prosecuted. Coline Berry found in front of her a remarkably powerful system orchestrated by her father to forbid her to speak. This system has even made Coline Berry, a victim, a person condemned for having denounced what she experienced, continued Coline Berry’s lawyer. We are now waiting for the Court of Riom to restore the honor and dignity of Coline Berry.” On November 9, the Court of Rioum will deliver its verdict after the appeal filed by Coline Berry, found guilty of defamation of Jeane Manson. On April 1, she was ordered to pay a fine of 2,000 euros and 20,000 euros in damages.
