RC Vannes-Biarritz. Outnumbered, the Bretons win their first victory

RC Vannes-Biarritz. Outnumbered, the Bretons win their first victory

What a great first victory at the Stade de la Rabine. At the end of the suspense and after an interminable crossover, the Bretons came to the end of the BIarritz Olympique to open their victory counter. The deliverance came from the front package which propelled Cyril Blanchard into the in-goal in the 78th minute, enough to raise the 8,000 spectators.

A jet RCV

And yet everything had started rather badly. From the 13th minute, Romain Lonca pierced the Vannes defense to serve on a plateau his scrum half Kerman Aurrekoetxea who only had to flatten. Led 0-10, the Bretons relied on the boot of Maxime Lafage author of a 7/8 this evening. But it is above all thanks to two Basque clumsiness that the RCV was able to get back on track. Hulleu (21′) and Camou (38′) took advantage of these gifts from Biarritz to regain the lead and inflict an 18-0 on the BO

An exclusion that could have cost the Bretons dearly

Meanwhile, in the 34th minute, the dismissal of Joseph Edwards, for an uncontrolled head-to-head collision, could have been the turning point of the game. With a second half to play outnumbered, the Bretons held on, only yielding on a try from Sauveterre (45′) and the points at the foot of Herron (14 pts). The latter going blow for blow with Maxime Lafage in order to put back in front of their respective teams.

In a controlled end to the match, the RCV relied on its audacity (penalty found in the 5m) and the strength of its pack which was rewarded with this test in the last minutes.

The RCV therefore succeeded in its first at La Rabine, almost making people forget the first defeat at Soyaux-Angoulême, last week. Next deadline for the Bretons, next Friday with a trip to Rouen.
