This Saturday, September 10, 2022, Princess Maria Laura of Belgium married Franco-British William Isvy in Brussels. A day full of emotions with an intimate civil wedding followed by a religious ceremony worthy of a fairy tale.

In the assembly, everyone holds their breath. This Saturday, September 10, 2022, at 2:30 p.m. sharp, inside the cathedral of Saints Michel-et-Gudule in Brussels, a deafening silence falls. All await the arrival of their princess, the queen for a day, Maria Laura of Belgium.

Announced by the sound of the organ, the bride enters. On her arm, her father, Archduke Lorenz of Austria Este, leads her to the altar where her great love, William Isvy, awaits her. Radiant, she wears a wedding dress by British designer Vivienne Westwood finished with a dizzying train.

Her lace veil is held back by the diamond tiara with floral motifs from the Aoste-Savoie house, usually worn by her mother Princess Astrid. Princess Maria Laura walks down the aisle under the emotional gaze of her uncles and aunts, Princess Delphine, Queen Mathilde and King Philippe. There, under the gaze of some 500 guests fixed on her, she pronounces this long-awaited word: “Yes”! For the second time today…

A first intimate ceremony

The same morning, a first civil ceremony takes place in the greatest intimacy. Dressed in a short ecru dress branded Gucci, Princess Maria Laura celebrates her union at the Brussels City Hall surrounded by forty of her relatives.

Among the guests, the parents of the bride and groom, Philippe Isvy and Lisa Louise Wilson for William, Archduke Lorenz of Austria-Este and Princess Astrid for Maria Laura. The mother of the bride also played a double role since she was also one of the witnesses.

Elisabetta of Belgium, the wife of Prince Amedeo and sister-in-law of the bride, Ferdinand Brunet, a friend of the couple, Prince Joseph von Liechtenstein and Olympia Napoleon-Bonaparte, cousin and cousin of Maria Laura respectively, complete the list of witnesses .

The bride’s siblings, Princes Amadeo and Joachim of Belgium, and Princesses Luisa Maria and Laetitia Maria of Belgium were also present as were her maternal grandparents, King Emeritus Albert II and Queen Paola.

An idyll kept secret

Promised to each other since December 27, 2021, the lovebirds have lived their romance away from the cameras until this date. The announcement of their engagement had even surprised more than one. Who was this young man, hitherto unknown? Where had they met?

So little information has filtered, the palace still revealed in a press release that the couple lives in London, in the very chic district of Kensington. Of a secretive nature, Princess Maria Laura will certainly want to continue her love story in the same way as it began. away from the cameras.
