Princess Charlotte: this precious inheritance from Diana that she could receive

In a few years, Princess Charlotte should receive a priceless property that belonged to her grandmother, Lady Diana. A particularly symbolic heritage.

  • She should inherit a priceless possession
  • In a few years, Charlotte will be the owner of a symbolic jewel

A Priceless Legacy. Like her mother, Kate Middleton, Princess Charlotte will also recover property that belonged to her grandmother, Lady Diana. As the Mirror reports, the seven-year-old girl will be offered “the choice of the jewels of the palace” since after the death of Elizabeth II, she is the only daughter of the heir to the throne. In this priceless gift? A unique piece worn by the princess of hearts, who died tragically in 1997, at the age of 36. This one, called the Spencer Tiara, was worn by Lady Diana on her wedding day to King Charles III in 1981. This crown had been in the family for over a century at the time of this union and has already been worn by Diana’s two older sisters, Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Lady Jane Fellowes.

Before her wedding, she had chosen to privilege the family heritage rather than borrowing one of Queen Elizabeth II’s tiaras for the ceremony, as Meghan Markle did, for example, when she married Harry in 2018. The tiara was partly made from a wedding gift given in 1919 by Lady Sarah Spencer to Lady Cynthia Hamilton, the grandmother of Diana, for her marriage to Viscount Althorp. According to specialists, talks are already underway to pass the tiara, which is currently with Diana’s youngest brother Charles, to little Princess Charlotte. “William is fully aware that the Earl has daughters of his own, but the two have agreed that Diana’s signature piece belongs to his first granddaughter,” confided a source.

When Charlotte pays tribute to Lady Di

Another royal insider told Australian magazine New Idea that the daughter of Prince William and Kate Middleton is looking forward to trying it out one day. “Charles knows all about his grandmother Diana. After all, Diana is one of her middle names. She has also seen pictures of her wearing the tiara”, he asserted. But she may have to wait until she gets married herself before she can show it off, as tradition dictates that brides wait until the day of the ceremony before wearing the piece for the first time. Since the birth of his children, Prince William speaks to them regularly about Lady Di, the grandmother they never had the opportunity to know. “It is important that they know who she was and that she existed,” confided the new prince of Wales in Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy.

“I think I’m constantly talking about Grandma Diana, so now we have a lot of pictures of her in the house and we talk about her. It’s difficult because obviously Catherine didn’t know her, she can’t really provide that level Retail”, continued Prince William. On the last Mother’s Day, moreover, Charlotte had a moving thought for her missing grandmother. “Dear Grandma Diana, I’m thinking of you on Mother’s Day. I love you very much, Dad misses you. Lots of love Charlotte”, wrote the seven-year-old girl on a card unveiled by her parents. In a few years, she will normally have the opportunity to pay a particularly moving tribute to her father’s adored mother.
