Platformers are taking Japanese animation by storm

In the space of a few years, Japanese animation has experienced incredible growth. Having become a staple of popular culture, it is increasingly coveted by the various video-on-demand platforms, when original projects around this universe are simply not started on them. Today, anxious to share this culture of Japanese animation with as many people as possible, the France TV platform has opened a dedicated section which offers to discover a selection of programs, and this, at no cost!

Admittedly, the content may not be as plethoric as what the Crunchyroll platform can currently offer, but the few titles to discover now in the “Japanimation” section of France TV is intriguing enough to make us want to regularly scrutinize the additions that may be made there. We detail below the few feature films currently available!

Katsuhiro Otomo, Satoshi Kon, Isao Takahata… Big names in the spotlight!

With this initiative, France TV promises us, neither more nor less, than a real lively trip to the land of the Rising Sun. Thanks to eight programs, among which we find illustrious directors and classics of the genre, this section set up by France TV is the ideal way to discover what makes the diversity of Japanimation and all the themes it can address in its feature films. To attract viewers, the platform has therefore decided to bet on very big names like that of Katshuhiro Otomoof Satoshi Kon, mamoru oshii (Ghost in the Shell), ofIsao Takahata (the famous friend of Hayao Miyazaki, the founder of the Ghibli studio) or of Naoko Yamada (A Silent Voice).

From now on, those who have an account on the France TV site (or who would like, after that, to create one) will therefore be able to watch eight programs from Japanimation : Paprika and Tokyo Godfathers (by Satoshi Kon), Steamboy (by Katsuhiro Otomo), Sky Crawlers – Sky Army (by Mamoru Oshii), Liz and the Bluebird (by Naoko Yamada), Kié the little plague (by Isao Takahata), The Night is Short Walk On Girl (by Masaaki Yuasa) and, finally, parallel worlds (by Yuhei Sakuragi). Unfortunately, as nothing is eternal, these feature films are only available for a given time (several weeks, we reassure you): therefore, do not hang around if you plan to perfect your Japanese animation culture!
