No one believed it, but Renault succeeded in launching a real sports car on the market in 2018. Not only does the new Alpine A110 pay tribute to the old sports cars of the brand dear to Jean Rédélé with superb and evocative lines, but this small sedan also offers extraordinary driving sensations. Arrived in an extremely complicated context for sports cars, this new A110 is not overwhelmed by the controls but still pulls out of the game thanks to a small engine with low CO2 emissions and an ultra-lightweight design. A few months ago, this Alpine A110 has also received some technical improvements in addition to the complete restructuring of its range. On the occasion of the Formula 1 Grand Prix de France, Alpine even lifted the veil on a 100% electric prototype (theAlpine E-ternity) serving as a rolling laboratory in anticipation of the future. Because yes, the Alpine division will switch to all-electric once the career of the current A110 is over.
But the tasty French sportswoman has not yet said her last word. Alpine is indeed preparing the official presentation of the A110 R, the most radical version of the entire range. We don’t yet know its exact technical specifications, but we do know that it shouldn’t exceed the 300 horsepower of the current GT and S versions. On the other hand, its chassis could be lightened by a good fifty kilos, with settings geared towards absolute sporting efficiency (and probably the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 semi-slicks fitted as standard). Only a few more days to wait before the presentation of this A110 R which will most likely be one of the stars of the 2022 Paris Motor Show.
Remember that once the career of the A110 is over, Alpine will make its great electric revolution. Renault’s sports division is preparing three zero-emission models: a sports compact, a very dynamic SUV and a direct replacement for the current A110, whose chassis will be designed with the help of Lotus. But it will be the end of the climbs to the switch in Alpine…
