OGC Nice wins without shining, Montpellier falls in Angers, Lorient continues against Nantes

After the victories of RC Lens, PSG and OM, the seventh day of Ligue 1 continued this Sunday with the traditional multiplex and four posters scheduled for 3 p.m. At the Stade François-Coty, AC Ajaccio, bottom of the championship, hosted OGC Nice, defeated by AS Monaco last weekend and author of a complicated start to the season (1 win, 2 draws, 3 defeats). Without its supporters, banned from traveling to Corsica, the Gym stammered its game in the first period. Except for a few situations, like this missed volley by Delort just before the break, the Aiglons struggled against determined but imprecise locals.

OGC Nice is doing well thanks to Delort…

On returning from the locker room, the technical waste was still present and it was finally necessary to wait for a gesture of great class to see the score evolve. Found in the area on a corner, Delort controlled his ball with his chest and followed up with a superb return from the right which lobbed Leroy (0-1, 66th). In the aftermath, Barkley, who had just come into play, found the post of the ACA (71st). Whatever. Disappointing in the game, OGC Nice nevertheless preserved their clean sheet to win by the smallest of margins. A success (1-0) which allows Lucien Favre’s men to move up to 12th place. Ajaccio is more than ever a red lantern in Ligue 1.

In the other matches, Lorient, fifth at kick-off and author of a more than attractive start to the 2022-2023 financial year, received FC Nantes, who defeated Olympiakos (2-1), Thursday evening, for their first outing in the Europa League. More enterprising in the first moments, the Canaries were logically rewarded. Taking advantage of a corner well struck by Merlin, Ganago deceived Mvogo with a header (0-1, 13′). Buoyed by the confidence accumulated since the resumption, the Hakes were not long in coming back. With a sublime free kick, Ouattara brought his own up (1-1, 19th). A globally balanced meeting which was finally unlocked on the hour mark when the new Lorient recruit, Cathline, found the top corner of Lafont (2-1, 60th).

Lorient confirms its great start, a first for Angers!

At the start of the last quarter of an hour, Koné, served by Ouattara, even made the break to consolidate the success of FCL, even if Simon reduced the mark in the last moments (3-2, 85th). With this new victory, Lorient climbs to fourth place. Nantes is sixteenth. At the Municipal Stadium, the Toulouse Football Club received, for its part, the Stade de Reims, undefeated in the last four days. Opposed to imprecise Rémois in the first act, the Pitchouns opened the scoring through Aboukhlal (1-0, 31st). Up front at the break, despite some scares defensively, Téfécé maintained their advantage in the second half.

More worried when they returned from the locker room, the Toulouse team took advantage of the expulsion of Flips (61st) to preserve their clean sheet and pocket three precious points. The Violets are now in 10th place. For its part, Reims fell to 15th place. Finally, at Stade Raymond-Kopa, the SCO of Angers, orphan of the slightest victory since the recovery, crossed swords with Montpellier, eighth at kick-off. A meeting that would quickly switch in favor of the Hérault club since Nordin took advantage of a center from Maouassa to open the scoring (0-1, 7th). Stung raw, Gérald Baticle’s men managed, despite everything, to equalize in stride through Hunou, opportunistic after a powerful strike from Ounahi (1-1, 7th).

Despite this intense start to the match, the rest turned out to be much calmer and the two teams returned back to back at the break. Displaying a much more conquering face in the second act, Angers finally took the advantage from the penalty spot. After a fault by the Montpellier goalkeeper on Hunou, very active in this match, Boufal transformed the sentence (2-1, 69th). In the last quarter of an hour, the SCO thought to make the break but missed a triple opportunity (82nd). The main thing was, despite everything, acquired: three points for the band to Valery, who remains, on the other hand, 19th in the championship. MHSC is still 8th.
