The first of the two days of MotoGP testing at Misano kept its promises in terms of emotion and novelties. The first was recorded by seeing Marc Marquez back to business on his Honda, even for the morning alone. For the seconds, all the brands went there with their revelation, the most blatant coming from the Honda box with an RC213V looking like RS-GP. And then Yamaha finally brought a revised and corrected engine…
On the track, see Mark Marquez signing a 1’32.395 three months after a delicate operation on his right arm was one of the highlights. With this performance, he would have been the best of Honda during the Q1 of San Marino Grand Prix which took place last weekend on the same Misano track… He did a morning’s work and 39 laps. Today, the eight-time World Champion will be back on track and will assess whether he is ready to return to Aragon for the next Grand Prix. MotoGP which will begin on September 18.
The fastest of the combined times, however, will have been Pecco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team), recording his best time of 1’31.292, ahead of Luca Marini (Mooney VR46 Racing) and the Aprilia ofAleix Espargaro. At Aprilia, we have recognized that we have embarked on two paths of development. One for Aleix and the other for Maverick Vinales.
The fourth position will have been for jorge martin (Pramac Racing) which preceded Maverick Vinales (Aprilia Racing) and the Yamaha of Fabio Quartararo. Seventh Marco Bezzecchi (Mooney VR46 Racing), ahead of the Ducati Pramac of Johann Zarco. To conclude Tuesday’s top 10, we find the Honda of Pol Espargaro and the Ducati ofEnea Bastianini (Gresini Racing).

At the house of Yamahawe worked on the engine and Fabio Quartararo said he was satisfied and happy to have seen more speed. Ducati offered two executives to his two Italians Bagnaia and Bastianini who said they were delighted with it, to the point that it would be offered for the end of this season. Mark Marquez resumed the saddle yesterday three months after the operation. The Spaniard was very happy but visibly tired as he hadn’t raced for a long time. This morning, he is on track, for the moment with the sixteenth time and will decide this weekend if he will resume racing next week in Aragon.

Here we go again ! The all-time record in Misano belongs to Bagnaia in 1’31.065. Mark Marquez was only 6 tenths off at lunchtime. Truly remarkable.

Aleix Espargaro finished the test day early because, just before the lunch break, he crashed at turn 13 and suffered a micro-fracture in the little finger of the left hand. He comments: “ I broke my little finger on my left hand, but it doesn’t need to be operated on. We tried a lot of things, but with this level of grip everything works, so we have to analyze the data calmly. For me a new world championship starts from Aragon“.

Fabio Quartararo has already completed the tests, here are his first comments: “ It was like one qualifying lap after another, the new engine works, I’m glad Yamaha kept their promise as I wouldn’t have continued with them for two years with the current engine. In addition to the improvements, I see the people at the Yamaha garage determined with the desire to continue to improver“.
The time signed by Quartararo (1’31.054) is 11 thousandths less than the track record set by Bagnaia in 2021 (i.e. 1,31,065). However, the Frenchman’s time will not be approved because it was made during practice (and not during an official session of a Grand Prix).
Although he is coming back from a long injury hiatus, Mark Marquez is still on the track, he also turns in the afternoon: for the moment he has done 12 laps in the afternoon, he is in 5th place.
