This Friday, September 16, 2022, Léa Elui is preparing to enter the “Dancing with the Stars” competition on TF1. Behind her, she can already count on the unwavering support of her impressive community. A great revenge for the influencer from Savoie who, before finding success on social networks, suffered the hell of school harassment. And things went very far…

On Instagram like on TikTok, Lea Elui has millions of subscribers, making her the most followed French influencer on social networks. This meteoric rise began a few years ago now, when she was still a high school student in a small village in Savoie. And if his dance videos hit the bull’s eye, and brought him enormous success that went beyond the borders of France, they were unfortunately also one of the causes of his harassment.

Léa Elui abused and harassed

Because behind her big smile, Léa Elui hides wounds that are still difficult to heal. Like many other young people, she was the victim of a school harassment which started when she was in college. “These are teenage stories. It started in college with rumors. Since I live in a very small village, it spread. People talk, and it spread in high school” explained- her in 2020 in the Youtube show “Le QG”, her throat tied. Alone in the face of the hatred of her school friends, Léa decides to take refuge on the net. At that time, TikTok is still called Musical.ly. And it is on this platform that the high school student expresses herself through her dance videos. A way to escape his violent reality. “Before I started shooting my videos, life wasn’t easy every day. I was harassed at school. I was regularly insulted,” she confided to Gala.

Her level in dance allows her very quickly to reach the heights of the social network, and to gain self-confidence. At the same time, the harassment stops… for a while. “The young people of my village today use social networks to attack me. Recently, we even threw stones in my path” she lamented in the columns of Gala. Because this notoriety, which was once respected by his high school friends, was later one more reason to attack Léa Elui. Even older people, who didn’t even know her, started picking on her. Caught in the turmoil, the influencer was forced to change the number. But nothing worked…

“Dancing with the stars”, a revenge

“I was getting food thrown at me in the canteen” she confided in the show “Le QG”. Before returning to this painful episode that occurred in June 2020: “I was leaving high school, some boys tried to get my attention, they gave me somewhat weird nicknames (…) They couldn’t do it, suddenly they took what they had at hand, so stones, and they threw them at me.” Faced with such violence, Léa Elui immediately went to file a complaint. But there again, she finds herself helpless in the face of the inaction of justice: “They said they were going to open an investigation, and I did not have a follow-up.” The teenager was therefore forced to leave high school. “I felt dehumanized, it really traumatized me. I had a big anxiety attack, I couldn’t speak for three hours. And even when I drive past my high school, I have chills. I can’t do it” she confided in 2020, still bruised by this outburst of hatred.

Since then, the notoriety of Léa Elui has continued to increase, on social networks but also on the small screen. In competition in the 12th season of “Dancing with the stars”, the young woman intends to go all the way. Especially since this participation has a very special symbolism for it. “That’s one of the reasons why I accepted this competition. With what happened to me when I was bullied in middle school and high school, I lost a lot of confidence in myself. And it’s true that dance is a great means of expression, you have to open up, you have to accept certain things that have happened in order to open up, and I think that’s going to help me regain my confidence, especially since I’m doing that also for my subscribers who have always supported me” she recently explained to Yahoo. There is no more !
