“I am free to do what I want”

“I am free to do what I want”

From Miss France in title to morning radio host, there is only one step for Diane Leyre, who has just crossed it with confidence.

She has not yet finished her reign that she is already embarking on an ambitious new project: this Monday, August 29, Diane Leyre made his debut on Virgin Radio in the “Morning without filter”. Surrounded by Fabien Delettres and Guillaume Genton (who comes from the show “TPMP”), Miss France 2022 turns into a morning host, while continuing her activities as a beauty queen. Really hyperactive, this Parisian puts on a silver scarf and pumps at 5 a.m., when she has just returned from an express trip to Reunion. She attended the coronation of the new representative of the island on Saturday. No trace of fatigue, either in her voice or even on her face, it was with disconcerting energy that Miss France took to the air at six o’clock sharp with her two new acolytes.

Diane Leyre entrusts it to Paris Match, a few minutes before entering the studio, she lives “at 300 an hour”. Behind this overflow of enthusiasm, there is all the same a touch of stress: “This is the first, I am facing two people who have already done radio and who have been in the media world for a long time, me I’m really the new kid. I have to impose myself, that I manage to make my place, there is necessarily a little more pressure for me, to give credibility to my role and that we do not have the impression that I have been taken only thanks to my title, but also because I have the skills for it.” When asked how this opportunity arose, the pretty 25-year-old brunette explains that it was through Cyril Hanouna, whom she met by chance in a football match stand, that things started, before to materialize three months and two trials later. “It was obvious when it was offered to me. I had some time to reflect, but as Miss France, I have the frustration of only doing one region a day, you can’t be everywhere at once. The radio allows me to be with everyone from 6 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and then to go to the regions.”

After a few short days of training, it is with confidence that Diane Leyre arrived in the Virgin Radio studios, already joking with most of the team members, starting with her comrades Guillaume Genton and Fabien Delettres. “There is a really good understanding, we all laugh, we send messages all day. Of course, that makes things easier.” In this “Morning without filter”, Miss France and her co-hosts have made it their mission to comment on the news in all honesty. For the premiere this Monday, the trio essentially exchanged on the casting – “very TF1” – of the new season of “Dancing with the stars” and on the false practitioners who rage on the Doctolib application. From the outset, a “TPMP” tone is felt and the launches of Guillaume Genton call for buzz, like the biting testimonies of former candidates and dancers of “DALS” contacted during the morning.

“It’s a radio that looks like me”

Asked about this slightly sensationalist editorial line on leaving the studio, Diane Leyre adjusts: “It’s news, you have to react to the news and make people react. We try something, we had to find something new to wake up Virgin’s morning. There is a period of adaptation for the public, but I think there is a real concept. I think there is a real dynamic. It’s really improvisation, I’m free to do what I want. If I make the buzz, it will be on something that I think so I can always justify it, there it does not bother me. She then adds: “I have always said what I thought since I became Miss France, I have often been told that I was outspoken, so it does not change who I am. It’s a radio that looks like me”, answers the one who hopes to be able to “carry the voice of the French” whom she meets in the region.

What about his reign, four months from returning his crown? Diane Leyre is already delighted with the idea that she will not have any downtime between the end of her Miss France year and the start of her new life thanks to her morning radio: “It will allow me not to not say goodbye right away, all of a sudden. And it also allows me to see whether or not I want to continue in the media. While waiting to find out if radio is indeed her new favorite activity, this entrepreneur at heart confides that she already has “full full” of other ideas far removed from the media for the future.

Until then, Miss France 2022 adapts as best she can to the countdown which leads her to the end of her reign and which each new regional election reminds her of: “Every weekend I go to meet new girls and among them, there is Miss France. The more I do, the closer I get to the end. There is apprehension because the Miss France Society is my second family and we like to be the only baby, the only child, but I can’t wait to discover the next one, ”she explains. “You have to accept that everyone has their time, it would be selfish to want to stay more than a year. I have four months left to enjoy and I will try to achieve as much as possible.
