Here are the French people who will receive the exceptional energy check of at least €100 by the end of 2022!

Chèque énergie

Right now, the meteoric inflation continues to claim victims. Indeed, many households fail to finish the month after paying the essential amounts. Costs such as water, electricity or gas. All prices experienced unprecedented increases. The government has already tried to cushion this increase. Indeed, the French government has established a tariff shield for the good of the people. Gold, from January 2023, the government’s tariff shield on energy will be reduced. As a result, prices will increase by 15%, as announced by Elisabeth Borne, this Wednesday, September 14. Energy checks will therefore be paid to 12 million French households this winter. And this, in an attempt to cope with rising prices. We tell you everything!

An exceptional energy check

In order to relieve the most disadvantaged households, Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne announced on Wednesday that exceptional energy checks will be paid to 12 million French households. And this, by the end of the year with the aim of overcoming the rising gas prices and electricity. The total cost of the operation represents approximately 1.8 billion euros and stay at charge of State.

It is not the French in a situation of fuel poverty on whom the efforts must be based said Elisabeth Borne. This check will vary from 100 euros for a couple with two children and a net income of 3,000 euros. And going upat 200 euros for a single mother with two children earning minimum wage, according to the head of government. The energy check can also be used for oil or wood heating. And this, as stated by the Minister of Energy Transition, Agnès Pannier-Runacher.

In more detail, the energy check of 200 euros will benefit the 20% of poorest households. While households in deciles 3 and 4, between the poorest 20% and the richest 60%, will receive an energy check worth 100 euros.

An insufficient gesture?

However, according to the consumer defense association CLCV, this gesture remains too insufficient. Indeed, this association expects a greater revaluation of the energy check and an extension to the middle strata. The energy check can be between 200 euros and 600 euros depending on income “.

In 2022, the energy check, worth 48 to 277 euros, will concern 5.8 million French households. The government had already sent them a first exceptional check for 100 euros in December 2021. And this, to deal with the outbreak of energy price. This check will allow in particular to achieve better identification of households in immediate need.

A 15% price increase

This exceptional new energy check will contribute to limit the effects of the reduction in the tariff shield from 2023. Regulated electricity and gas tariffs will increase by 15%. This increase will take effect from January in the case of gas and from February for electricity. This increase corresponds on average to an increase in the bill of approximately 25 euros per month for households that heat with gas. And an increase of 20 euros for those who are content with electricity. This increase represents 8 to 9 times less than if the prices set had been able to be aligned with those of the market. This price increase regulated energy affects all homes and condominiums. As well as social housing, small businesses and even small municipalities.

We know this increase of 15%, even instead of 120%, is not trivial for many French people “, underlined Elisabeth Borne. ” This is the commitment we make. The discrepancy will not be on consumer bills. In 2024, or later, it will be taken over by the State “, she confided. According to the Minister of the Economy Bruno Le Maire, this new tariff shield will cost 16 billion euros. ” To be completely precise, it will cost 11 billion euros for gas and 5 billion for electricity “, therefore explained the Minister of the Economy. Since October 2021, gas prices are frozen and rising electricity prices does not exceed 4%.
